Kashan Wool Rug
The Kashan Wool Rug 9.8x12.9 is a stunning example of Persian artistry, originating from the ancient city of Kashan in central Iran, one of the country's oldest cities. While Kashan's origins trace back to the 17th century, many believe the designs of these rugs may date as far back as the 16th century during the reign of Shah Abbas. The term Kashan Wool Rug typically refers to a hand-knotted rug with a diamond-shaped central medallion. Shah Abbasi fields, named after the influential Persian king who shaped the region's textile art, feature curvilinear flower motifs that give the rugs a beautiful, garden-like appearance. These motifs are commonly seen in Persian rug designs, either in an all-over pattern or centered with a medallion.
Rug Description
This rich Kashan rug showcases a Shah Abbasi field with a central medallion, featuring primary colors of midnight blue and ivory. Floral vines cover the red field, while black borders add to its striking appearance. The lilac-blue palette on the borders provides a soothing contrast. We hand-knot this luxurious Kashan rug, using natural dyes made from vegetables to color the threads. The rug's PSI count is 150 x 90, indicating its fine quality.
